Lamy was founded in 1930 by Josef Lamy as an independent family business. Lamy was originally a salesman with Parker but saw an opening in the market.
The business grew rapidly with the Lamy brand being established in 1952. Lamy soon became a design-led innovator, being joined by famed designer Gerd Müller who in 1966 was responsible for the iconic Lamy 2000 pen which is still in production today. Nowadays, Lamy presents new pen series' in collaboration with renowned external design houses and designers and in spite of this ever changing collaboration, the typical Lamy design is always preserved and clearly recognisable - thanks to the brand's well proven design principles based on the consistent symbiosis of aesthetics and functionality.
