About Namiki AYA Fountain Pen - Akatsuki Daybreak
SPECIAL ORDER - PLEASE CONTACT US FOR AVAILABILITY & SHIPPING DATES
At the start of the 20th century, a fountain pen utilising the Japanese traditional art of “Maki-e” was born. The strong and attractive body with a lacquer finish, and the fine and elegant design by the craftsmen are highly acclaimed around the world, and those skills and spirit have been passed down to the world’s most famous name in Maki-e fountain pens - Namiki.
The Namiki AYA fountain pen has a subtle Maki-e finish and is signed by the Kokkokai group of craftsmen. In Japanese, the word “AYA” means coloured light. Abstract patterns that represent an enchanting world, imbued with poetry and that will feed the imagination. Four finishes are available in the AYA series and each fountain pen is enhanced with a coloured lacquer and a pattern in Togidashi maki-e, Raden, gold or silver powder.
- Akatsuki Daybreak has a vermillion base and represents the dark and mysterious hour of the day, just before the sun rises. This word also means the fulfilment of a wish. This model highlights the power of the sun rising in the darkness of the night. It is made with Togidashi Maki-e and gold powder.
- Hayate Gale has a black base and refers to powerful winds. This model suggests the appearance of these winds, majestic, swirling and in perpetual motion. It is made with Togidashi Maki-e and silver powder.
- Seiru Limpid Stream has a blue base and means a stream of clear water. The blue pattern suggests a gentle stream of water, shining deep in nature, which soothes and enriches the spirit. This AYA is made with Togidashi Maki-e, Raden and silver powder.
- Tokiwa Evergreen has a green base and means the nature that will never change. The pattern reveals trees on a mountain, which flourish even in winter, under a sparkling, pure and starry sky. This pen is made with Togidashi Maki-e, Raden and gold powder.
The extraordinary 18K No.30 18ct gold nib with the image of Mount Fuji completes each model and is available in Fine/Medium, Medium and Broad sizes.
